Just a Snippet

‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.” Acts 2:17

Many people get dreams and visions mixed up or are not sure just what it was that the Lord gave them. Sitting on the couch, wide awake in the middle of the day I was suddenly transported into hell in a vision. The Lord has taken me into hell to show me what part of it is like as a message to His children as well as unbelievers. (Been There – Not Going Back post)

On other occasions I have been sound asleep in my bed when in a dream my Dad is chasing me, a two-year old child, through the woods yelling, “A bear is going to get you.” That was during the early years of my healing process from the abuse I was being subjected to. Many times He would reveal various issues and occurrences in dreams and then heal them.

Be it a dream or a vision the Lord is giving us a message. (be aware the devil can also give us a dream. Visions come from the Lord) In dreams we can’t always assume it means what we think is pretty obvious. Vision or dream, we must ask the Lord for His interpretation and “dream books” with their pat answers, doesn’t cut it.

Last night I had, what I call a “snippet” dream. Very short but with a definite message. My little Beagle dog in this dream usually represents the Holy Spirit in my dreams.

In my snippet dream my little dog was running and I was chasing him and calling him. I had a dog collar and a leash in my hand to put on him.  When I caught him I started to put the collar on him and it was much, much too large, but I decided to put it on him anyway. He popped his head right out of it and darted away.

I woke up immediately and puzzled, I asked the Lord, “What does this mean?”

In a very clear and concise voice,  I heard –

THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL NOT BE LEASHED!

The Marriage Bed – A Testimony

“Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled;” Hebrews 13:4

The Lord had to teach me what this verse meant, and how making love to my husband is holy, clean, and ordained by God.

I had some very misconstrued ideas about this subject. Such as; you do not make love with the lights on! You have to be quiet! You do not enjoy it, you endure it! You do not pursue or instigate sex, and you never, never, never, ever make love on Sunday!

Do any of these statements sound familiar? It was very hard for me to believe that God had anything to do with sex. I was wrong.

God, by His grace and through the Holy Spirit, revealed His word to me. How He created man and women to be one, both physically and spiritually. To enjoy the blessing that He intended for marriage.  He revealed that making love to my husband was not just a physical act, but a spiritual experience. My learning this did not happen over night. It took time for His word to get into my heart, mind, and soul.

He led me to read, “Song of Solomon” and other portions of scripture that deals with the marriage relationship. I prayed that God would change the way I thought and believed. I asked Him to help me be the wife that He created me to be, and I also asked that I would desire my husband, and love him with God’s unconditional love.

Before my husband would come home I would start thinking good thoughts about him. Because my thoughts would tend to wander when we were making love, I would have to focus on what the Word said and on my husband. It wasn’t easy at first. But the more I tried it, the easier it got. The Lord did a tremendous healing in me. I am very grateful that He has opened my eyes to see His truth.

Are you experiencing problems in the marriage bed? Are you missing out on the blessings and promises of God? My prayer for you is that you will allow the Holy Spirit to reveal the healing power of God’s Word. Then you will begin to enjoy the beautiful blessings of making love to your mate. remember that what He will do for one, He will do for another.

We have all heard that Jesus is love, that He died and arose, stands at the right hand of God, forgives us of our sins, and that through His death and resurrection that we will have His peace and joy everlasting and spend eternity with Him.

That is all true but those of us that have been wounded deeply can struggle with the peace and joy part. Be it a loss of a loved one, a painful divorce, or the loss of our childhood through childhood sexual and physical abuse. When we are going through those painful memories, when we are struggling with the healing process and facing the giants of abuse issues we question, “Where’s all this peace and joy!?” “I’m hurting now and I sure don’t feel any peace about it and I have no joy.”

We live in an evil world. Evil things happen every minute of every day. Our circumstances are not what gives us joy. The circumstances that have brought deep pain can rob us of all peace and joy – if we let it! That’s what the devil wants. He has come to rob us of peace and joy. He has come to steal our faith, and he has come to kill our relationship with Jesus Christ. When we are curled on our beds in the fetal position because depression has left us limp and crying where and how can we feel joy?

Our peace and joy comes from the Lord. Our peace comes in reaching out to Him and knowing He’s there because He said He would never leave us or forsake us. His Holy Spirit lives within us and you can’t get any closer than that! There are times when we just have to refocus! We have to take the time, even if its just a moment, to remind ourselves that Christ is with us. He knows our pain and He is our Healer. We can shut Him out and remain in the fetal position or we can seek Him and get out of that bed of pain.

Our joy is not the kind we feel when we happily dance around the room singing. Happy circumstances can bring that kind of joy. The joy of the Lord is knowing, without a doubt, and total confidence, that He is in control. It’s that deep heart knowledge that even though we are suffering and hurting now that it will not last forever. No more tears, no more sorrow, no more suffering is our future and although we are hurting now we will be set free! That does not mean we have to wait to be in heaven for freedom. We have it now! Yes, tears will flow. Yes, we suffer and go through the pain of overcoming but we have Christ’s promise that we can have His peace and joy while here on this earth.

Our joy and the peace that is beyond all understanding comes from the acceptance that Christ is our hope. He is the only hope we have of ever becoming more than we are now. The pain is temporary. The suffering is temporary. It may not feel like it but if we believe the Word of God then we can look forward to freedom, now and forever more.

Christ died, He arose. The day of His Resurrection is over but we have been resurrected with Him. Easter may be over but our eternity has already begun. Christ still lives and we can live in freedom with the peace and joy that comes by believing in the One who loves us.

If you have not asked Christ into your heart He will hear your simple prayer if prayed. “Jesus, I believe You died and arose for the forgiveness of my sins. Forgive me and come into my heart as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus Name. Amen”

Will faith carry you?

We have all faced times of trouble, of sorrow, of events that have tested our faith to the limits. So how do we rise above those down times, those times when God and His Son and Holy Spirit seem to be off somewhere in the distance that we feel we cannot reach?

Scripture says that faith comes through hearing. (Ro. 10:17) To me that doesn’t always mean through a preacher behind the pulpit. It can be through others who have walked similar paths as we have. It can be through reading the scriptures in the Bible, music, or that small still voice that comes from deep within us.

As Christians we have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. He is with us constantly. There is never a second that we are alone and He will not remain silent as long as we tap into the Source. We build our faith by praying and listening. By crying out to God Almighty and believing that He hears us and cares.

Being in an abusive environment can destroy hope and faith. We hope things will get better and they don’t. At times they only get worse. How is faith to grow when it seems nothing we do has any impact on our circumstances? It’s a tough life and without hope we seem to disappear into a sea of pain and hopelessness. But hope is there because we have a loving and merciful Savior.

We have a Savior that bore our pain when He was nailed unmercifully to a cross. He looked out over humanity and love swelled in His heart as He said, “It is finished.”  (John 19:30) There’s our hope! We have a Savior that took our sins with each dying breath he took.

Somewhere along the line of life we have heard of God. He says no one has an excuse not to believe. (Ro.1:20) His Majesty is all around us. The blue of the sky, the trees that sway in a wind that we can not see yet can feel. The first cry of a new born baby. Every breath we take is ordained by God. His presence is everywhere. We just have to believe and have faith that God is on our side.

We should never allow circumstances, what people have done to hurt us, the hurt we feel, or past sin to stand between us and our loving, compassionate, caring, and merciful God. Our relationship with Him is the most important relationship we will ever have in this life time. Have faith. He loves you.

When Christ shows up in your healing

images0YPM9462

“The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18

Little Suzie sat on the front stoop of her parents country home hugging her dog. Tears streamed down her face as she whispered her sorrows into his soft fur. Her dog was her only comfort in a world filled with pain. Her spirit was broken and her only hope was that one day she would grow up and leave home.

Children have desires and wants and needs and the one need that is the most important is the need to feel loved. Suzie felt no love other than the love her dog shared with her. As the years passed and the abuse continued her need for love was buried and replaced with anger, hatred, and the need for revenge. Oh sweet revenge, she thought. I’ll show them all! The anger and hatred soon became her survival.

She went on to high school and college and that need to feel loved was pushed down deep yet it remained a part of her soul. Being the only one in her family to go to college she excelled beyond any expectations; her own and her families. She had her own home, she loved her job, she traveled, and her life style made others envious. But something was missing.

Her anger was deep and showed its ugliness through veiled sarcasm and not caring what others thought. She lived as she pleased and didn’t give a flip whether people liked it or not. Her relationships were negatively affected but she wasn’t aware of why and didn’t give it much thought. She felt she had no need for God, for He had abandoned her many, many years ago, or she abandoned Him. Either way, she didn’t care.

Her life was going along fine except the memories and pain from the past kept cropping up. Nightmares, flashbacks of events that left her sweating in the middle of the night, and dreams she didn’t understand.

Her thoughts for revenge had changed over the years. Instead of wanting to hit, curse, and harm those who had harmed her she decided the best revenge was to overcome all the pain they had inflicted. She entered into therapy.

The Lord Jesus met her there.

He knew her brokenness and I’m sure He shed many tears when He saw her broken spirit. With love greater than she could imagine He took her under His wing and loved her through pain so deep, even she didn’t know it was there. He walked her through the issues left behind. The shame was lifted, the false beliefs were rectified, the guilt that said all was her fault was corrected.

Christ showed her areas in her life that needed adjustments, like her attitudes! Her language was cleaned up, her broken heart began to mend. The greatest healing He brought to her was instilling in her heart that she is very much loved. By Him! He was restoring all that the abuse had stolen.

It wasn’t easy and it didn’t happen over night but with Christ beside her, with Christ holding her up with His right hand, and with Christ picking her up and carrying her when she was too devastated to continue the journey, she finally made it!

No more night mares, no more flashbacks or terrifying dreams, no more heart filled with hatred and wanting to hurt those who hurt her. All was replaced with forgiveness and a peace seeped within her that was beyond her own understanding. She was finally free from the devastating issues that had plagued her for much of her life. And the most deep seeded need of all has been filled, she finally realizes and accepts, Suzie is loved!

God the Father through His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit knows your pain and knows your brokenness. Allow Him to walk through the pain with you. Allow Him to restore what the abuse stole from you. Trust Him with your innermost healing and if need be, He’ll even carry you when you can’t seem to take another step forward.
